iSENDu update available

Monday, January 4th, 2010

The approval of the first update of iSENDu only took one day. This was a very pleasant surprise and was the perfect finish of the last year. After all our troubles with the approval process in the last months we would officially say Thank you to the anonymous reviewers at Apple which worked so fast and made iSENDu available on New Year’s Eve.

iSENDu update submitted

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

We’ve submitted the first update of iSEND today. After working very hard on the update we finished the programming and testing last night at 2:00 am. The update addresses the picture display problem and includes also enhanced data transfer speeds, some interface tweaks and a startup help screen. We’ll let you know as soon as the new version of iSENDu becomes available in the iTunes Application Store.

iSENDu bugfix release

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

In a longer session (well into the early hours of the morning), we managed to resolve the problem concerning the display of images in iSENDu. Yep, we did it! We will update iSENDu as soon as the Developer Connection is available again, which should be the case on December 28th.
The bugfix includes some additional graphical tweaks and as well as a new feature.

iSENDu online

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

Yesterday, Steve from Apple called. It was not Steve Jobs though, but he had excellent news: iSENDu got approved! This was a very pleasant surprise, since we are already updating iSENDu and making a new version which will be available soon. We keep you posted about all new developments.

*** Personal remark, Christian – Personal Apple phone call!

After the 3rd reject we gave up any hope for an approval before 2010. So you can imagine the surprise of getting a phone call yesterday evening starting like: “Hello this is STEVE form apple US” …. my first thought… STEVE?!…. no, that can’t be… and obviously it wasn’t, but still, what a coincidence. Anyway we had a nice talk about problems of the approval process of iSENDu and in the end … we got APPROVED! :)

To finally talk to someone in person, after many apparently automatic generated mails was quite nice for a change. Good thing we didn’t give up hope …

iSENDu rejected

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

We’ve got a message from Apple:

Dear Mr. Scherling,

Thank you for submitting iSENDu to the App Store. Unfortunately it cannot be added to the App Store because it is modifying or extending an undocumented API, which as outlined in the iPhone Developer Program License Agreement section 3.3.1 is prohibited:

“3.3.1 Applications may only use Documented APIs in the manner prescribed by Apple and must not use or call any private APIs.”

There is no documentation for creating custom subclasses of UIImagePickerController, the organization or layout of the view hierarchy managed by UIImagePickerController, and any of the custom classes managed by UIImagePickerController in iPhone OS 3.0.1.

Camera APIs are available in the iPhone OS 3.1 SDK that allow applications to take pictures, provide camera view overlays, and add custom camera controls. Please review these APIs to determine if they provide the functionality you require in your product. If your product requires additional functionality that is not provided by the Camera APIs in the iPhone OS 3.1 SDK, please file an enhancement request using the Apple Bug Reporter, .

Regards,

iPhone Developer Program

So, the reason for this rejection is essentially user feedback… Which is hard to believe, because Apple is considered to design the most user friendly products.
